A saw-whet owl and other small wonders

Hi mum and dad,

Just really quick because I am on a limited time internet usage – I’m doing wonderfully.  Took Jon up to Pine Mt – didn’t see anyone, but got to share the ledges, blueberry picking and Chapel Rock.  I’ll send you some photos.  The time continues to be magical.  We spent the night after Pine Mt at Dolly Copp Camp ground then headed up Howker Trail to Madison yesterday – it was a perfect day for hiking; we could not have asked for better, and we had a wonderful trek up the mountain, then back down with Jon narrating many of the plant varieties that are edible and/or have medicinal properties. Oh!  Our wildlife for the trip was a saw-whet owl.  It just stared and stared and stared at us!  Amazing.  I am eager to see you all, though it sounds like my time in Seattle with Jon and then after he’s left will be somewhat brief.  We’re excited about staying in Kirkland (the basement might be the best option) and cooking delicious food for the both of you (Jon is an excellent cook – really really really good!!!).

Much love to you both and looking forward to talking/seeing you soon.
